February 2006 : So much news! Maybe wouldn’t be so much if I updated more often, right? Anyhow, first things first— Lovely Agent Caren Johnson has joined forces with the equally lovely Nadia Cornier to form Firebrand Literary. The name is apt as these two are supreme movers and shakers and I’m so excited to be part of this new venture. Caren and I will no doubt be talking more about this at the Southern Lights Conference which we’re both slated to attend.

Well, my long Untitled YA for Pocket/MTV Books has a title, ADIOS TO MY OLD LIFE, as well as a release date, of July 4, 2006. The one thing I don’t have yet is a cover, which I’m hoping to share with everyone in the very near future. However, even without a cover, it’s available for preorder on amazon.com. No, the Caridad isn’t a mistake-- I’m going to be writing for MTV under a slight pen name. I don’t say pseudonym because Caridad is my middle name, so it’s still me, I promise. We’re working on a website dedicated to the Young Adult books that we hope to unveil sometime in the near future. Keep checking and I promise, we’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, I do still update my blog fairly frequently and I’ve also begun a joint blog with fellow YA Author, Jennifer Echols as we count down to our release dates.

March 2005: I get The Call from an agent. Caren Johnson of the Peter Rubie Literary Agency wants to represent me and how cool is that? She loves Lucky Thirteen and as a result, I love her!

July 2005: I get The Call, Pt. 2. In the middle of the Reno Hilton Casino, no less, on the eve of the RWA National Conference I receive a call from my agent saying that there’s interest in my Latina Young Adult novel. Who needs the slots, right?

August 2005: It’s official. My Untitled Latina YA plus one more book have been bought by Pocket/MTV books. Lauren McKenna will be my editor and the first book is slated for release in early summer 2006. I’m going to be a published author!

August 2005: More good news! I’ve been invited to give my first solo workshop at the Desert Dreams Conference in April of next year! See Appearances for more info.
